'I first started experimenting with knives by the age of 10 and continued with my passion and eventually attended a fixed blade knife course with internationally renowned knife-maker Andre Thorburn and later with Gawie and Thinus Herbst, all members of the Knife makers' Guild of Southern Africa. Thanks to their guidance, my knife making has improved by light years.

In the bi-annual competitions for non-guild members at the annual Knife makers' Guild of Southern Africa Guild Show's I started winning awards from 2007, 2009 and 2011 onwards.

I have persued my passion and currently work from a small workshop at home, Mandeni, a small town on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal where I make my custom knives full time.'

Stefan runs 2 day immersive knife making courses, teaching the basic techniques of knife-making, enabling students to create a knife and custom leather sheath from start to finish.
